Community Moderation SOP
Moderate a paid community without living in DMs
A moderation system so the room stays useful and you are not the help desk.
What you get:
- A public rule set: what gets a warning, a mute, a ban, with examples
- A first-reply map: member-to-member, FAQ, owner, with the exact handoff
- A DM policy: when you answer in public, when you take it private, when you close it
- A weekly 30-minute review: volume, repeat questions, people to promote or remove
- An incident path: spam, harassment, chargeback threats, with the owner and the log
How to run it:
1. Post the rules where people join. If it is not written, you will argue it later.
2. Answer once in the room. Link the FAQ. Do not re-type it in DMs.
3. Mute is faster than a thread. Ban is for repeats, not first mistakes.
4. Review the log every Monday. Quiet problems become culture.
Fill in your channels and run it before the next wave of members.
